TEACHING

Turfgrass management prepares graduates for jobs and careers dealing with all facets of the turfgrass industry. Examples of jobs available to students with a BS degree in environmental horticulture specializing in turfgrass management include golf course turf management, lawn and landscape maintenance, athletic field managers, parks and grounds managers, technical sales to the turf industry, and others. Students who earn a MS degree in turfgrass management can find technical sales positions, research associate positions, extension specialists for state universities, or work as consultants. Students who earn a Ph.D. in turfgrass sceince usually look to obtain faculty positions at universities or work as research scientists in the private sector.

Approximately 30 students are currently enrolled in our turfgrass science program. Students experience a wide, interdisciplinary curriculum covering topics such as cropping systems, cultural systems, morphology, entomology, pathology, weed control, pesticides, integrated pest management, and environmental issues.
